Beschreibung

In 1853 A.D., it was the vision of Pastor Louis
Harms of the Hermannsburg Mission that
the Oromos should hear the Gospel.
Therefore he sent a group of missionaries
towards Ethiopia in order to reach them.
The way was blocked at that time and also a
second trial failed. Only 75 years later, in
1928 A.D., the vision of Louis Harms found
fulfillment: four men from Hermannsburg
could start Gospel work in Ethiopia.

God used these missionaries and their successors to contribute to a
movement which led to the Ethiopian Evangelical Church –
Mekane Yesus. This book tells the story of their work up to the end
of the Derg regime in 1991 and beyond. It is part of a History of the
Hermannsburg Mission, prepared for its 150th anniversary in
1999.

Ernst Bauerochse, the author, draws from written sources in the
Hermannsburg archives and his own experience as a missionary in
Ethiopia from 1954 to 1974. After the death of his first wife
Brunhilde in 1979, he married Martha Wassmann. They live in
retirement in Hermannsburg (Germany).
