Beschreibung

This book draws attention on the livelihood and food security situation of rural female-headed households, a topic largely neglected by academic studies. It offers a detailed empirical examination of the impact of social institutions on households’ food security and coping strategies in Meskan district of southern Ethiopia. The area faces daunting environmental and social challenges. The results develop an understanding of the gender dimension of food (in)security and present important implications for public policy.

Mesay Kebede Duguma is currently working in collaboration with the UNCCD secretariat, Implementation Unit, on the Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) project.
