Many Pulitzer Prize-winners in the theater award categoy started their international careers right from Broadway.
Among the laureates were dramatists like Eugene O’Neill who earned four awards. Double prize-winner Tennessee Williams was praised for „A Streetcar Named Desire“ and „Cat on a Hot Tin Roof“. Thornton Wilder’s plays „Our Town‘ and „The Skin of Our Teeth“ were successful as well as Arthur Miller’s „Death of a Salesman“. Edward Albee’s „Three Tall Women“ or Alfred Uhry’s „Driving Miss Daisy“ represent the younger generation of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights.
