Realizing Church is an empirial
investigation into how three Norwegian parish priests take
part in congregational leadership. Based on
Cultural-Historical Activity Theory, leadership is viewed as
intimately connected to mundane routines and material
objects. The book finds that the priests contribute to
leadership through their work to give differing communities
a coherent shape, negotiation of their own leader subject
nodes, and through discussions, processings and realizations
of the object of activity – of Church.
Realizing Church contributes to pastoral theology,
and to the fields of leadership-as-practice and religious
leadership.
