This volume contains papers that are related to academic peace studies and to the politics of peace. The emphasis of the contributions is on the analysis of current violent conflicts in and between states and within societies, on all levels, local, regional and international.

The editors:
Eva-Maria Bruchhaus graduated in political science (Institut d’Etudes Politiques, Paris) and international agronomy (Witzen-hausen, University of Kassel). Her main interest is in political, economic and cultural developments in Africa, with emphasis on conflict and post-conflict situations, especially related to war-related gender based violence. She is board member of medica mondiale, supporting survivors of gbv in Africa, Asia and Europe.
Monika Maria Sommer, mediator (E.M.A.), lawyer (bar-exam), doctoral candidate at the Department of Political Science, University of Hamburg, is currently research associate at the Addis Ababa University (AAU), Ethiopia. Her research interest is on conflict transformation and the inclusion of local capacity and potential in post-conflict processes of peace-making.
