This volume attempts to analyze, in an academic scope, Serbia’s unique
position and its relations to its neighbours, viewed in a European
context. The diverse topics reveal historical facts, the actual political
situation, international relations, political culture and cultural
interactions in this region. The discourse reflects the situation from a
Serbian point of view as well as from an international perspective,
perceived up until the time of October 2005.
Valeria Heuberger is working with the Austrian Institute of
East and Southeast European Studies, Vienna. Her scientific work is mainly
focussing on South Eastern Europe, with a special interest for minority
issues.
Elisabeth Vyslonzil has a scientific background in East European history
and Slavic languages. She is Director of the Austrian Institute of East
and Southeast European Studies, Vienna.
