The findings of this study reveal how in an attempt to better the
wellbeing of Muslim communities in Ghana, the Muslim resurgence was
inevitable. In the course of this resurgence, doctrinal differences
between various groups produced protracted intra-Muslim conflicts in Ghana
from 1950 – 2000.
Nathan Iddrisu Samwini attended Trinity College, Ghana where he did his
theological studies and obtained his Master of Arts and Doctor of
Philosophy in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham. He is the
director of programmes of the Christian Council of Ghana and has been the
Ghana Area Adviser of the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in
Africa (PROCMURA) since 1995.
