The goal of this piece of research is to learn more about the implications of climate change adaptation for development policy and practice. First, at policy level, the dynamics behind the evolution of climate change adaptation are explored to illustrate why the issue has recently turned into an expanding field for development aid agencies. Then, at practice level, the case study of Germany seeks to contribute to more detailed knowledge about possible entry points and those critical determinants driving and constraining the mainstreaming of climate change adaptation into the work of development assistance
