Beschreibung
In her teens Helene Krulich fell in love with a young
Kurdish student in Prague and married him. Thus she got
involved into the Kurds’ fight for their basic rights not
only in the future Kurdish leader Abdol Rahman Ghassemlou’s
native country Iran.
Mostly living clandestinely she also passed through Iraq and
Syria side by side with members of the respective Kurdish
freedom-fighters. In parallel she became a contemporary
witness of history in her own native country,
Czechoslovakia, from the Soviet occupation up to its
EU-membership. Finally she had to face Ghassemlou’s
assassination upon state order by Iranian
“peace-negotiators” in Vienna in 1989. In vain she fought
for an investigation of the crime by Austria’s police and
legal institutions.
Living in Paris now she wrote her memoir as a very personal
“history from below”.
