This study explores the circulation of individuals and knowledge among medieval elites, including the appearance of Armenians in the Latin world in the eleventh century; however, their cultural impact seems disproportionate to their demographic and political influence. Concomitantly, from 1014 to 1080, a corpus of hagiographic texts was produced concerning four saints.
To their vitae were added claims of miracles that led to the elevation of relics, indicating the emergence of a cult. Moreover, epigraphic and archaeological sources, both Latin and Eastern, attest to the historicity of the Armenians who came to the Latin world during this period. The study separates the fictional from the attested reality.
