Beschreibung
This volume presents a new look at American dramatist celebrity Eugene O’Neill, recipient of the Nobel Literature award and four Pulitzer Prizes for drama. The book concentrates on the question under which circumstances he won the top national and international recognitions. So it is important to know the detailed praise of his works by the Swedish Academy, resulting in the Nobel award of 1936. In a similar way, all Pulitzer Prize Drama Jury reports could be consulted to explain how the decision-making processes of the committees went, leading to his four Pulitzer decorations in 1920, 1924, 1928 and posthumously, in 1956. In addition, O’Neill’s main documents of honors, for the very first time in a book, are facsimile reprinted: his Nobel Prize Diploma, his four Pulitzer Prize Certificates, and his honorary doctorate from Yale University.
Heinz-Dietrich Fischer, EdD, PhD, is Professor Emeritus at the Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany.
