Cities are both precious and precarious. They embody what is precious: creativity, mobility, sound, colour, construction, organization, and interaction. Yet they also expose what is precarious: poverty, congestion, noise, smog, destruction, chaos, and exclusion. In cities, a diversity of publics, interests, beliefs, needs, longings, and belongings comes into view.
There is no single concept of public theology, but rather a plurality of ways of understanding the public dimension, mode and conceptualization of theological reasoning across different traditions. Fifteen authors from all continents have reflected on the theme as they interacted within the Global Network for Public Theology.
