Beschreibung

For most African Christians, the concept of healing set up by the
Church does not reflect or acknowledge their views and experiences
of sickness and healing.

Inculturation in pastoral care of the sick is an attempt to recognise
and possibly integrate African spirituality and worldview into the
liturgical practice of anointing and pastoral care of the sick.

Anointing and pastoral care of the sick can become more meaningful
and beneficial to African Christians when it is structured to address
questions of sickness and healing as experienced by Christians in
their respective cultural backgrounds.

Kenneth Nwokolo was born in Obibi Orlu, Nigeria in 1963. He
obtained his B.Ph and B.Th at Bigard Memorial Seminary Ikot Ekpene and
Enugu in 1986 and 1990 respectively, with a doctorate in Theology in 2002
from the University of Bonn. In addition to his work in some parishes, he
has had practical experiences with pastoral care of the sick in both home
and hospital.
