Knowledge and learning are widely recognised as major sources of
economic development for firms and regions. In an environment that
is increasingly shaped by volatile global processes, it has become
essential for economic success to continuously generate, access
and use information and knowledge. Despite the significance of
these resources, their spatial context is not yet fully understood.
This volume provides a set of empirical case studies which shed
new light on the complex interaction between the regional and
global scale of knowledge and learning.
