PEER REVIEW:
LIT Verlag aims for a peer reviewing procedure for its publications.
For our publications, published in series managed and edited by academic series editors, high quality standards are ensured by means of the selection process of manuscripts by the series editors and the affiliated editorial boards.
We check and review proposed manuscripts and recommend suitable series for them or forward them directly to the series editors for further evaluation.
The review process follows the established guidelines by the respective series editors and/or the responsible editorial board of each series.
Publications from Austria, which are submitted for a FWF (Fonds zur Förderung wissenschaftlicher Forschung, Austrian Science Fund) funding scheme, will always be subject of an international peer reviewing procedure according to the quality criteria of the FWF:
Every publication is subject to a review process of two reviewers.
The appointed reviewers always have to be impartial with regard to the respective authors and editors of the submitted work. This excludes any person, who is or was part of the submitted research project or publication process (namely authors, editors, contributors, and any person otherwise involved in the project).
Furthermore, the reviewers and authors/editors of the proposed work must not have collaborated in other publications or projects within a time frame of at least 5 years. They must not be part of the same research facility and also must not have existing plans to be in the future. The reviewers must also not have any other personal or professional relationship to the authors and editors of the proposed work in any way.
The reviewers don’t work in Austria.
Assessments for publications in a foreign language are obtained from native speakers of the target language. Publications in a foreign language are also submitted to a proof-reading procedure in the target language.
The reviews have to meet the FWF regulations and cannot be sent anonymously.
Criticism and suggestions as parts of the positive assessment of a manuscript are considered within the further process of publication.
