The issues which are intensely discussed in the context of ongoing school reforms in Europe are “language policy within the scope of language education” focusing on the support of multilingualism as well as the “evelopment of professional skills in teachers” with special attention to their intercultural competency.
The conference volume Education and Languages in Europe is intended to respond to current developments in the field of education in Europe by means of employing international and intercultural dialogues, as well as to stimulate further multilateral expert cooperation with regards to teacher education in the context of current trends in the European educational policy.

Renate Seebauer is Professor of Educational Sciences at the University of Education Vienna, Austria and Accredited Lecturer in Education at the University of Derby, Great Britain.
